The difference between a Silk coat
and a Soft coat. The breed
standard for a Yorkie coat is a steel
blue colored body with tan legs and
head, however sometimes we get
what we call the soft coats, this is
when the body stays black, with
tan legs and head. All Yorkies are
born black and tan, the Silk coats
will turn silver and tan, and the Soft
coats will stay on the darker side,
the Soft coats are usually thicker,
but the hair is finer and will matt
more easily, the soft coats are
usually kept in a shorter cut.
